Tips:

  • When buying ginger, look for plump, unblemished roots that feel heavy for their size.

  • Ginger skin is actually very thin, so you can remove it easily by scraping the root with a spoon used face-down.

  • Ginger is not grown in the UK but is abundant in Jamaica, Kenya, India, China and Australia, so try to avoid air freighted varieties if you can.

  • Ginger contains Gingerols which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a great ally in combating illness.
